The Office of Inclusive Excellence & Community Engagement strives to empower individuals to transform their lives and achieve their highest potential by offering programs and services that will enhance learning and lead to their success in STEM fields,

Reporting to the Assistant Dean ofInclusive Excellence & Community Engagement, the Program Coordinator for Community Engagement will coordinate strategies for community engagement and strategic partnership opportunities to support the Office of Inclusive Excellence & Community Engagement's STEM education community goals. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, design, evaluate, modify and coordinate programs for the community based STEM initiatives including the Summer Enrichment, Robotics competition, Summer Institute, Family Science Academy and future collaborations with Winton Woods and the University's CPS strong initiative.
    • Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various community stakeholders
    • Schedule, implement, and periodically suggest new community-based programs, partnerships, and other engagement initiatives
    • Participate in the implementation of a marketing strategy to recruit students and program participants from CPS K-12 schools.
    • Create mechanisms for internal and external evaluation of engagement initiatives by developing, administering, and analyzing yearly progress through assessment/evaluation questionnaires, surveys and rubrics for all community engagement projects.
    • Disseminate communication about the community engagement programs to the university community and other constituents through newsletters, social media, conference presentations and other publication venues.
    • Recruit/support volunteers in implementing IECE engagement opportunities.
    • Coordinate a yearly fundraiser for community engagement support with the support of the UC Foundation.
    • Identify engagement opportunities for Choose Ohio First, Emerging Ethnic Engineering and LSAMP scholar students with community projects.
    • Maintain various databases of groups of stakeholders.


  • Provide financial administrative support for Community Engagement initiatives.
    • Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.
    • Track all expenditures required for Community Engagement expenses.
    • Maintain monthly expenditure reports for all Community Engagement expenses.
    • Maintain records including participant attendance where food is served and store participant signatures.
    • Track Community Engagement office budgets for each area within program including; promotion, communication, meals, faculty salaries, transportation, fundraising luncheon and any other related expenses and supplies.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with at least one (1) year of experience; -OR- Associate's degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR- five (5) years of experience. Experience must be in program coordination.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in volunteer management, social impact design, corporate community relations, project management, community organizing or other related areas required.
  • Technology skills including expertise with Microsoft Office and database management; willingness to learn new applications and identify innovative ways for technology to support organizational objectives.
  • Familiarity with asset-based and/or social impact design approaches to community and experience and success working in partnership with local residents and community organizations development, volunteerism, corporate philanthropy and tutoring/mentoring.
  • Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, delegate, and to create systems and processes.
  • Requires excellent knowledge, skills and abilities in data analysis and insight generation, translation of complex issues into actionable efforts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally.
  • Solid relationship management skills enhancing internal organizational relations and external community interactions.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers.
