Degree and area of specialization:
Accounting or finance degree or equivalent experience in accounting or related role preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Required Proficiencies:
-Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
-Knowledge of computer applications, automated data analysis and data entry techniques.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills.
-Demonstrated computer expertise with a variety of software programs.
-Experience interpreting an analyzing financial data.

Preferred Proficiencies:
-Knowledge of University, State, Federal and/or Nonfederal rules and regulations.
-Thorough knowledge of UW and State of Wisconsin budgeting and appropriation regulations and processes; regulations and restrictions on variety of account types such as revenue, gift, GPR, UW Foundation Endowments and restricted funds, UW Trust funds, Federal grants, interagency agreements, contracts, etc.
- Familiarity with University systems such as WISDM, HRS, JET and e-Reimbursement.
-Advanced working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred.

Position Summary:
This position performs highly responsible professional accounting requiring the knowledge and application of accounting theories and principles for the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Letters & Science. This position involves a broad variety of complex fiscal management and accounting activities. This position is responsible for interpreting policies, procedures and guidelines while working with Campus Central Offices and helps with training of departmental faculty and staff in the College. This position is also one of four positions responsible for managing and direct entry into JET, College's budget transfers of non- salary, non-grant reimbursement requests.

The College of Letters & Science offers a broad liberal arts and sciences education with complex organizational structure with projects on eleven funds and six activities with expenditures exceeding $170 million (over $28 million related to non-salary expenditures) and over 2100 UW-Foundation Funds with approximately $50M in cash.

This position will be housed in the L&S Dean's Business office in South Hall.
