Job Summary:
The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 career staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing provides a work environment that is focused on customer service and a commitment to students. Employee engagement and professional development are also priorities. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,400 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 3,000 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide conference group and youth camp housing throughout the summer months.

University Housing is divided into six main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, Information Technology, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

The University Housing Human Resources Department serves all housing employee categories - full time, student, and temporary. Departmental scope ranges from payroll/benefits, to overseeing a robust student employment program and to recruitment, employee relations, leave of absences for the fulltime staff. The Department is comprised of 16 members, plus student employees.

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Student Employment Manager, this position manages the student employment process and advises managers on best practices. This position manages a custom student employment application system and marketing efforts for student employment. Responsibilities also include compiling and analyzing data, as well as general human resources support. This position ensures all duties are performed in compliance with complex policies, procedures and laws.

This position requires independence of action and decision making authority, initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and an ability to effectively communicate with a wide array of people. The incumbent in this position is expected to exercise a high level of problem solving and analytic ability, as well as solid human resources guidance.

- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or the ability to obtain in the first year.
- Previous Human Resources experience is required.
- Experience with student employment or seasonal employment preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources is preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experiences.

Office hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm; extra hours as priorities dictate.
