Veterinary Customer Services Representative I/II (Gulf Shores)

THIS POSITION HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 10/26/2018

**Two positions for the Auburn Veterinary Specialists-Gulf Shores located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The hours will be 8am-5pm with some flexibility required.**

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following: welcomes clients to the hospital, registers clients' animals that are in need of medical attention and verifies client information and referring veterinarian; ensures all proper paperwork is completed, gathers records from other veterinary facilities as needed, compiles the physical medical record, and alerts the appropriate clinical personnel of the patient's arrival; appropriately directs clients to areas within the clinic for patient care and continues to ensure client's visit is successful; receives and screens telephone calls to include scheduling appointments; provides information and assistance to callers and/or visitors regarding clinic and hospital procedures and processes; determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response; contacts clients to confirm appointments, providing clients any information, paperwork or instructions needed prior to their appointment; communicates admissions information, fees, discharge date(s), clinic regulations, or other clinic services to clients within the scope of the position; discharges clients in a timely and appropriate manner; ensures bill order is complete and has been verified by hospital auditors, ensures all medications have been given to the client; addresses any past accounts or financial follow-ups; confirms client does not have any further clinical questions; generates, analyzes, validates, and verifies, financial records in-house as well as prepares, records, and verifies daily deposits and cash reports for Bursar's office; may assist clinicians with patient examinations, simple treatments, and recording patient data under direct clinical supervision; assists in other areas as needed; abides by rules and regulations for Veterinary Client Representatives as defined by the American Animal Hospital Association and policies and protocol of the College of Veterinary Medicine and teaching hospitals.

The successful candidate will be comfortable in close proximity to companion animals as some team members will be assigned in examination rooms and treatment areas. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Dogs, Cats, Birds, Reptiles and various small mammals.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry into applicant pool requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of standard office functions. Communication with others is limited to exchange of routine information. The salary range for Level I is $20,300 - $33,800.

Level II requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in a veterinary, medical office, or hospital setting working with medical records and hospital information systems. Standard knowledge of office functions. Working knowledge of Auburn University administrative systems appropriate to the position. Employer will consider advance degrees in lieu of experience. The salary range for Level II is $22,300 - $37,200.

Desired Qualifications
Experience in a referral veterinary practice is highly desired. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking skills; customer service skills; experience with medical software such as an electronic medical record, practice management software (UVIS, Cornerstone, etc.), scheduling system, billing system, etc. Education beyond the high school level or equivalent from an accredited institution is desired. The successful candidate will possess excellent stress management and critical thinking skills. The ability to multi-task is essential for success in the position.
