Minimum $42,167 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelors degree required. Area-specific (Africa) knowledge preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Strong organizational and implementation skills and superior writing skills required. Minimum two-years prior working experience in a higher education administrative capacity. Excellent organizational and office skills. Computer proficiency, experience working with databases and spreadsheets. Demonstrated communication and writing skills. Demonstrated capacity to work with diverse groups of faculty, students, staff, and public in a fast-paced office. Overseas research and study abroad experience in Africa highly desirable.

Position Summary:
The African Studies Program supports research, teaching, and outreach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, bringing together scholars in multiple disciplines, students, teachers, and community partners to consider all aspects of land and life in Africa.

The African Studies Program is a U. S. Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center for Africa, a unit in The International Division, and a member of the campus consortium of internationally oriented programs known as the Institute for Regional and International Studies.

Additional Information:
The employment title will be Associate Administrative Program Specialist. The position will be a 12-month Annual-basis fixed-term renewable appointment at 100% time. Continuation of the position is expressly dependent on job performance and continued external funding.
