Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree in personnel/HR management, public administration, business/management or related field preferred OR equivalent experience.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Preferred qualifications include: Experience assisting in the management of the employee relations program for employees including developing and consulting regarding policies and procedures, recommending dispute remedies and establishing strong partnership with all parties, (e.g., employees, supervisors, governance groups, etc.).
An ideal candidate will have a strong interest, educational background and/or experience in employee relations or have a role in human resources with employee relations experience.
Experience in higher education preferred

Position Summary:
Position is located within the Workforce Relations office and reports to the Director of Workforce Relations.

The position's responsibilities primarily involve the implementation and management of the employment relations program for all UW-Madison employees (faculty, university staff, academic staff, graduate assistants, limited appointees, employees-in-training, and student hourly staff). Key functions include providing consultation to deans, directors, chairs, faculty, supervisors, HR representatives and employees; drafting and updating policies and procedures; developing and presenting training modules; hearing grievances; managing appeals; recommending remedies for disputes; and establishing strong business partnerships with all parties (employee groups, management, governance etc.) to successfully accomplish the position's functions.

UW-Madison has over 35,000 faculty and staff located in 32 colleges, school, and divisions. Employees functions span most occupational areas with backgrounds covering the full spectrum. This position is integral in supporting human resource programs that allow the university to attract, hire, and retain talent in all positions.
