Wastewater Plant Operator

The Woodridge Lake Sewer District in Goshen CT is looking to fill a wastewater operator class I position. Responsibilities include the operation, maintenance, and repair of a 100,000 gallon per day activated sludge treatment plant. Also 8 pump stations and all related infrastructure. This will require a self-starting individual who will receive general supervision from the Superintendent or Chief Operator. Applicant must have High School diploma or GED. Experience in operating a wastewater treatment facility is preferred, but will train the right individual. Must possess or be able to obtain a CT DEEP Class I operator certification within 18 months. Must possess valid CT drivers license and have a clean driving record. A CDL class-A is preferred but not necessary. Must live within 25 miles of Goshen. Must be able to work rotating Weekends and Holidays, and participate in a 24/7 On-Call rotating schedule. Must be able to work in emergency situations under adverse conditions. Must be able to understand and follow instructions in both written and oral form. Candidate must be able to work safe and effectively with other staff, superiors, and the general public. Applicant must also pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check. Basic computer skills are necessary. A Competitive wage and benefits package is offered.
