Title Position Reports To: Executive Director

JOB SUMMARY:

This position serves as the principle institutional official responsible for ensuring and monitoring compliance with all laws and regulations under the Jeanne Clery Discolsure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The Clery Compliance Administrator will work with policies, standards and procedures to ensure university-wide compliance. It will manage and coordinate the institution's comprehensive program for gathering and disclosing campus safety and security information, crime statistics, and the timely preparation, submission and dissemination of required reports, documents and records. This position will oversee and participate in conducting institution-wide education and training related to the Clery Act.

When directed assumes command and performs the duties of the Executive Director during the absence of the Executive Director. Develop, maintain and communicate department directives, policies, communications and procedures. Direct and coordinate crime prevention and investigation efforts, including strategies, data maintenance and analysis. Supervise all administrative personnel, crime prevention, transportation and parking services.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Develop and supervise office and transportation staff and exercise effective authority for personnel decisions or recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations.

Consult with Executive Director in planning projects, initiatives, and activities; develop strategies for achieving department's objectives and periodically assess effectiveness of those strategies.

Direct department's compliance with the New York State Department of Education's Jeanne Clery Act to disclose campus security policy and campus crime statistics. Oversee preparation, publication and distribution off annual security report for the Garden City campus, Manhattan Center, Hudson Valley Center and Hauppauge Center. Oversee all Higher Education Title IV regulations as they relate to campus crime reporting and investigations.

Direct crime prevention and investigation efforts; analyze incidents, crimes and conditions to ensure the early detection of pattern or trend in an effort to effectively deploy resources.

Oversee all N.I.M.S., CPR and First Aid certification program.

Oversee all NYS Security Guard Licensing requirements to assure full compliance.

Coordinate ongoing investigation training and report writing for all uniformed personnel.

Work closely with InfraGard, ASIS, SCAN, SPIN and Citi Shield organizations.

Direct and oversee campus transportation and parking services for the university. Maintain tight fiscal controls in regards to all departmental overtime.

Maintain the Integrity and Security of all confidential records and reports within the department.

Provide direction for the recruitment, selection, orientation, development and retention of high caliber staff.

Oversee all administrative Information and Technology to coordinate security/ID systems including installation, programming and maintenance.

Oversee the publications of all monthly statistical reports.

Collaborate and partner with federal, state and local law enforcement on all criminal investigations and crime prevention efforts.

Oversee compliance of all NYS and Nassau County life safety inspections.

Oversee/monitor all departmental overtime and expense reports with fiscal integrity.

Additional assignments and work hours as required by the Executive Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

Strong managerial skills

Excellent administrative, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to establish successful relationships with law enforcement agencies.

Familiarity with all computer operations and spread sheets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to respond, oversee and physically assist in all emergency evacuations.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement or related field.

Five (5) years of experience working with procedural or management analysis.

Significant and advanced knowledge of laws and regulations associated with the Jeanne Clery disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (i.e., requirements for reporting crime under the Uniform Crime Report, the Jeanne Clery Act and Department of Education mandates) coupled with knowledge of other related federal, state and local laws and regulations (e.g., provisions of Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights), enforcement data base, knowledge of crime analysis and mapping systems.

Ability to work independently in a highly matrix, decentralized and complex work environment.

Excellent writing skills with demonstrated ability and experience to develop and draft policy, recommendations, procedures, reports, presentations, and communications, including a well-developed skill in manipulating various types of data and information using computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, databases)

Excellent oral and presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in police or private security management position or equivalent combination.

POSITION(S) SUPERVISED: Administrative, Transportation, Local 153 and Public Safety Personnel.
