Event Technician II - Evening/Weekend

DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED

PAY GRADE: 27N

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under limited supervision, the Events Technician II provides technical support requiring technical and aesthetic judgment for performance events, meetings, and conferences during night and weekend hours. The principal emphasis is the setup, operation, monitoring and adjustment of sound and lighting systems, video display, and computing equipment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sets up and connects video display systems having multiple inputs and outputs.
  • Programs and operates lighting and audio control consoles for live events.
  • Monitors and adjusts audio levels during live events/performances.
  • Monitors and adjusts lighting levels and scenes changes during live events/performances.
  • Operates and switches between video devices during live events/performances.
  • Sets up and connects performance audio systems, using analog or digital audio consoles.
  • Supervises, trains and orients Student Technicians in the safe and proper use of rigging and audio, video, and lighting equipment.
  • Meets with clients on the day of events to confirm functionality of event set-ups, and makes any changes requested by the clients.
  • Provides event backup for Student Technicians.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment in all facility spaces and performs routine maintenance on A/V equipment.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED with three years' experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with computing hardware connections, basic lighting design, and audio and video equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems under time constraints.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people having varied levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, audio, video, or lighting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to accurately discern colors and the pitch, tone and volume of sound.
  • Flexible Schedule, nights and weekends required. Wednesday through Sunday 3:15 PM - 12:15 AM (Subject to change)
