Mobile Application Developer, UCP 7 REPOST


The University of Connecticut (UConn), Analytics and Information Management Solutions (AIMS) group ( http://aims.uconn.edu ) is seeking to hire a Mobile Application Developer (UCP 7/Operating Systems Programmer/Analyst 2) . This is a grant-funded position. This position will provide technical support on our Health IT initiatives, where the individual will create, maintain and test code, along with designing mobile applications and portal front-ends and back-ends.

UConn AIMS works with various organizations, leveraging leading-edge technologies to curate, process, and enhance healthcare data, to fuel analytics that supports statewide healthcare initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Design, develop, implement, and maintain a reusable software component.
  2. Complete mobile application architecture design and implementation.
  3. Apply User Interface (UI) implementation and mobile styling.
  4. Drive application and feature development from wireframes and specifications to a tested, working product.
  5. Develop mobile software and associated life cycle deliverables for iOS-based and Android-based applications.
  6. Perform all the steps required to design, test, and code applications.
  7. Develop procedures, documentation, and operating instructions and successfully move programs into production.
  8. Attend training and further professional development to learn and implement new technologies and languages.
  9. Participate effectively as a team member using an efficient self-paced approach when working in a startup environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline or equivalent training and experience.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of development experience in Android, iOS, Java, C#, and Javascript frameworks, such as AngularJs and/or React.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of experience building client-facing and publicly deployed mobile applications.
  4. Experience with build and deployment tools, such as Maven/Nuget, Gradle, and Git/Bitbucket.
  5. Experience interacting with web services including RESTful and SOAP.
  6. Experience with Eclipse IDE, Android Studio and XCode, and/or Visual Studio.
  7. Ability to work independently as well as with team members, collaboratively utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational, and analytical skills.
  8. Solid understanding of the MVVM architectural pattern.
  9. Experience consuming RESTful APIs securely and efficiently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience delivering technology-based solutions following Agile/SCRUM SDLC.
  2. Experience with Visual Studio (Xamarin Studio) and/or Eclipse.
  3. Experience with Azure cloud platform.
  4. Experience with writing Liferay screens mobile applications.
  5. Extensive UX/UI development and design.
  6. Extensive application security knowledge, including authentication and authorization experience using OAuth2 / OpenID Connect.
  7. Working knowledge of web design, caching techniques, and performance optimizations.
  8. Experience with encryption on mobile devices.
  9. Solid understanding of the SOA.
  10. Current knowledge of industry trends and innovations that can be applied to projects.
  11. Understanding of various healthcare formats and reference data sets, such as HL7, claims, eCQMs, drug/pharmacy, clinical notes, and lab results.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, grant-funded position that is subject to annual renewal depending on available funding and job performance. The standard work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Work location is at the Hartford campus.
