Degree and area of specialization:
Ph.D. required; strong preference toward a biological science or engineering field of specialization

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-The position requires a self-motivated professional, well versed in the theory and practice of image analysis, with a demonstrated record of publicaton and grant writing in support of research.
-A minimum of one year experience using at least one programming language for imaging analysis applications; experience writing ImageJ macros and use of image analysis software highly desireable.
-Direct experience with the use and operation of advanced optical microscopes strongly preferred in the successful candidate.
-The position requires open communication and a collaborative, team-oriented work style.
-Independence will be afforded to develop new project areas within the image collection and analysis field with particular focus on detecting and characterizing human disease mechanisms.

Position Summary:
The position reports to Dr. Kevin Eliceiri, head of the Eliceiri lab also known as the Laboratory of Optical and Computational Instrumentation (LOCI). Duties include designing and conducting research related to the open source image analysis suite ImageJ, designing new safe analysis strategies, conducting imaging experiments related to the cellular microenvironment, and using advanced imaging equipment. Additional duties include imaging outreach and training, working with collaborators on imaging experiments, and assisting Dr. Eliceiri with grant writing and research publications.
