Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required. Preferred in business administration, management or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-Minimum two years' experience in financial management and analysis including budgeting, forecasting, and accounting in a research environment.
-Two years program management or supervision preferred.
-Two years of experience in contract development and negotiation process is preferred.
-Four years of experience in pre award / post award administration related to various extramural sponsors is preferred.
-Basic knowledge of OMB circulars such as A-21, A-110, A-133 and Uniform Guidance Federal Acquisitions Regulation preferred.
-Basic working knowledge of award submission, reporting and oversight at federal level (electronic submission and relations to eRA commons).
-Knowledge of biomedical research related project budgeting theory, methods, and best practices in creating project and research program budgets at federal level.

Position Summary:
This is a senior-level leadership position, which is responsible for the full-lifecycle of non-clinical research & related fiscal administration in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Manager of Research oversees a complete administrative and research support continuum. In the finance area, this includes early project analysis, feasibility and budget preparation - and final grant closeout. In the research support area, the incumbent will also communicate with all faculty seeking grant funding support (as trainee or as established investigator) to offer appropriate guidance to them and their staff in the grant related areas of oversight and compliance, as well as advise on research related resources on campus. This position includes all aspects of grant management (start to finish), as well as providing support with regard to campus policies and resources.

This position is responsible for decision making related to the integrity of the research financial portfolio, the efficiency and efficacy of the department, and driving the strategic plan of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Programs.

This position reports to the Department Chair, Vice-Chair of Research, and Department Administrator. This position provides overall oversight of non-clinical research staff including direct supervision of the Department Research Administrator who supervises the Research Accountant. The position functions as a member of the Administrative Leadership Team, attending monthly meetings and providing leadership to the Support Staff Team at large. The position also provides support for the Department Research Advisory Committee and all research staff and coordinates with the Vice-Chair and Manager of Clinical Research.
