About the College/Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has 22 faculty members with current enrollment of approximately 575 undergraduates, many who participate in the University Honors College. The MS and PhD programs serve approximately 50 graduate students.
The College of Engineering consists of eight departments that offer BS degrees in nine disciplines, MS degrees in ten disciplines, and a PhD degree in Engineering with several concentrations. The undergraduate enrollment in the college currently stands at over 3,000 and the graduate enrollment stands at almost 900. The college has 103 tenured/tenure-track full-time faculty associated with it and generally has externally funded annual research expenditures of approximately $20M.

Summary of Job Duties
The Materials and Manufacturing Research Scientist performs research integrated education and service in the area of Bio-inspired convergent materials, processes, and systems. Examples of duties include, though not limited to, proposal and paper publishing, conducting experiments, and advising students.
This position is renewable annually, based on performance.

  • Ph.D. with an emphasis on the bio-inspired approach of design for convergent systems from an accredited institution of higher education
