Position Summary:
This position will be part of the Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI), although a large percentage of effort will be devoted to supporting events for and outreach efforts of the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC). Descriptions of WEI and GLBRC are as follows:

The Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) is helping to solve one of the most critical challenges of our time: the transition toward new, cleaner energy systems and solutions. WEI is led by scientists and engineers committed to making major breakthroughs in the way we source and use energy. Specifically, WEI seeks to: 1) foster collaborative energy projects across sectors and disciplines, 2) prepare energy leaders of today and tomorrow, and 3) enhance public understanding of energy issues.

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) is one of four Department of Energy centers established to conduct fundamental, genomics-based research on microbial and plant systems required to realize the national need for low-cost biofuels. The GLBRC is housed at the University of Wisconsin with collaborators at Michigan State University and other universities and national labs.

The Outreach and Event Coordinator will work both independently and collaboratively to create and implement outreach programs and events for a variety of audiences. This position will require a limited amount of state and possibly regional travel, and occasional evening and weekend work.
