The Performing Arts Department seeks a dynamic instructor for its introductory acting course Perfa 033Acting I: Principles of Performance, to be offered in Fall 2018,MWF 10:30-11:35 am.

The course provides anintroduction to the theory, history, and styles of realistic acting with emphasis on personalization, script analysis, and the dynamicsof performance. Students apply key Stanislavskian concepts in the analysis and performance of a dramatic script, while learning the fundamentals of working solo, with a partner, and as part of an ensemble. The course is designed to satisfy both of the College's Artistic Understanding core requirements: forArtistic Analysis and Creative Practice.

Qualifications
A terminal degree in Acting, Theater or Performance Studies, or equivalent professional experience; demonstrated excellence in teaching acting at the college level; and academic (or other relevant) preparation for fostering and assessing writing, critical thinking and oral communication skills. The successfulcandidate will have experience in a culturally diverse classroom setting, the ability to foster a student-centered, interactive and collaborative learning environment, and a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. Substantial experience as a professional stage actor is highly preferred.
