Student Associate, Office of Equity & Inclusion

Essential Function

A Student Associate in the Office of Equity & Inclusion provides support to carry out the daily functions of the office. Student Associates will complete special projects at the direction of staff members, and regularly communicate and interact with the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members.

This is a paid part-time Student Associate role, working 10-20 hours per week during a traditional academic semester, with optional summer employment based on scheduling needs. Employment in the Office of Equity & Inclusion during one semester does not guarantee future employment. Changes in employment status may be dependent upon scheduling needs, student availability, skill level, and job performance.

Job Duties
  1. Greet office guests and meeting attendees.
  2. Answer main office phone line, refer calls to appropriate staff, and deliver messages as needed.
  3. Enter data from Inclusive Excellence workshop evaluations for assessment.
  4. Design and deliver educational workshops and programs.
  5. Draft, revise, and send correspondence as directed by staff.
  6. Maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
  7. Assist with the maintenance of the office's web site.
  8. Serve as an office representative for campus programs, events, and committees.
  9. Participate on search committees to screen applicants, interview candidates, and recommend potential hires.


Minimum Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Enrolled at a post secondary institution or a secondary school
  • Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), with the exception of summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term;


Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge
  • Preference given to those who maintain Dean's List recognition
  • Involvement in the UC and Cincinnati communities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle conflict, and quickly adapt to challenging situations
  • Ability to act with diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Time management and organizational skills
