Job Summary:
Starting pay is based on experience, with a minimum starting rate of $15.42 per hour.

This position provides administrative program support under the direction of the Department Chair and the Department Manager for the Department of Political Science faculty. The position assures that the governance of the Department of Ploitical Science (the Department of Political Sceince has significant departmental legislation) fulfills and complies with the requirements of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Faculty Policies and Procedures, and is in compliance with the College of Letters and Science rules and regulations.

This position requires self-motivation and ability to work independently with general supervision of the Academic Department Manager to handle diverse situations.

It has four primary functions. The first is to assist the Chair in a wide range of activities such as preparation of materials for meetings, maintaining confidential materials and monitoring their calendar. The second is to process travel expense reports (TER's), payment to individual reports (PIRs), Emergency Transactions (ETs), requisitions and conduct general purchasing for the department. The third area is to coordinate the recruitment effort for new faculty positions. The fourth is to facilitate all faculty appointments such as joint, affiliate, adjunct and emeritus including evaluations, re-appointments and promotions.
