California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. Conditions of Employment:
Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Special Working Conditions:
The work schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-11:00pm, Fridays 3:30pm-10:30pm, and Saturdays 8:00am-5:00pm, with one one-hour meal break daily. On occasion, the incumbent will be expected to answer/respond to off-hours calls/emails received on his/her campus supplied mobile device.

Department: User Services

The Division of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership and support in information technology for the entire CSU Dominguez Hills community. The Division promotes IT solutions that improve the teaching, learning, research, and administrative environment of the University. The Vice President / CIO provides overall management of the Division of IT. The Division of Information Technology is comprised of eight operational units: Service & Financial Mgmt, User Services, Academic Technology, Infrastructure & Production Services, Information Security, Development & Digital Convergence, Innovation Incubator, and Operational Effectiveness, Planning, & Analytics.

Major Job Duties:
Under general supervision of the Manager of User Services, the incumbent is responsible for functional technical equipment/systems support and capabilities, including the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of equipment, products, low-voltage wiring/cabling, and/or systems within campus learning spaces (e.g., classrooms, labs, study rooms, etc.) and conference rooms; provides input to the design of such spaces. Configures, updates, and maintains the Global Viewer system to monitor equipment life cycles. The position also contributes to evening operations, video conferencing, and special event support, as needed.

Qualifications:
Required Knowled-ge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and ability to use operating system features and network protocols as applicable to equipment area.
- Knowledge of programming concepts; has the technical understanding to work with vendors and/or subject experts in system programming to isolate and solve equipment related problems.
- Knowledge and skills for the Equipment/Systems Specialist include a basic knowledge of electronic (digital or analog) theories, mechanical design, and understanding of the operation and use of the equipment and systems commonly utilized in the higher education classroom technology.
- Knowledge of applicable industry and safety codes and/or standards that apply to work environment and equipment.
- Knowledge of digital and analog theories (or relate technical areas) and ability to apply these in resolving equipment repair and system performance problems.
- Familiar with cable and wiring standards as defined by the institution and industry standards and configure systems to meet requirements.

Ability:
- Ability and equilibrium sufficient to climb a ladder and maintain balance while pulling cable; strength and dexterity to crawl, kneel, crouch, or twist to reach/and or work with assigned systems and in the ceiling.
- Ability to use common package application programs.
- Ability to work well with other IT support personnel in a team environment.
- Ability to differentiate between hardware and software problems.
- Ability and manual dexterity to assemble components and parts, and/or cable or wiring, by reading and interpreting reference manuals and schematics.
- Familiarity with materials, methods, and techniques used in the completion of equipment service assignments. Adept at using required tools, including computer systems, to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to use a variety of test equipment and diagnostic software to ensure system operation.
- Machine tooling capability and/or ability to work at the component level.
- Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring and cable as required working from layout or plans.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and related documentation for equipment/systems that interconnect with or interface to installed equipment base.
- Ability to track system performance and ensure system/equipment reliability using knowledge of system/equipment operation thresholds and optimal performance levels.
- Ability to utilize specialized software utilities and features in assigned equipment, and install and configure standard software.
- Ability to create system layout and develop operating procedures.
- Ability to prepare network diagrams or system schematics with an understanding of component functionality.

Specialized Materials:
Skilled at working with Windows and Apple hardware products. Skilled at creating and maintaining installation packages and campus standardized software images for classroom computers, utilizing computer diagnostic tools and cabling equipment.

Certification: Valid Drivers License

Experience and Education:
Required Education: An Associate of Arts degree in electronics, telecommunications, information technology or equivalent education, training, and/or directly related experience.

Required Experience: One year of related work experience

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $3,388 -$6,357 monthly.
The maximum salary budgeted for this position by the department is $4,585 monthly.
