Degree and area of specialization:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a business or administrative setting is required. Training/experience in an academic environment is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated time-management skills, attention to detail, ability to problem-solve, excellent written communication skills, ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships, and ability to work independently.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn UW accounting, grant, and financial systems; interpret and analyze college, university, and sponsor policies; guidelines, rules, and regulations.

Candidates should have knowledge of project management and analysis techniques as applied to accounting and billing systems. Ideal candidates will also have an understanding and working knowledge of NIH NRSA Training Grants, including relevant experience with eRA Commons, xTrain, and CAYUSE.

This position will also serve as a liaison between the Financial Analyst and other accounting staff. This employee must be able to communicate with a diverse population, coordinate resources, determine priorities, and assist in decision-making.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Financial Analyst, the Biochemistry Grants Coordinator is the liaison between the Financial Analyst and the Biochemistry Department's accounting staff. The Biochemistry Department is a large, complexly funded unit and this position will provide support in departmental fiscal activities including the Biotechnology Training Program, pre- and post-award grants administration, and overall financial management. This position is a key person in the Biochemistry fiscal team and will be a point of contact for many areas.
