President

Queens University of Charlotte (Queens) in North Carolina seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as its 21st president. Building on the exceptional work of President Pamela Davies, the next president will join the University as it looks eagerly toward a future of increasing innovation and distinction among leading comprehensive universities nationally.

Founded in 1857 in the Presbyterian tradition, Queens has grown to be a private, co-ed, masters-level university focused on developing dynamic students from all walks of life in and outside of the classroom. Queens is home to 2,507 students: 1,719 traditional and post-traditional undergraduate students and 788 graduate students. All benefit from wide-ranging opportunities and the close-knit learning environment of a small campus situated in a beautiful residential neighborhood of Charlotte. Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country, offering vast opportunity to expand intellectual engagement and practical application beyond campus. The Charlotte community has been an enduring source of support to Queens in a myriad of ways.

A full-time faculty of 129 and a full-time staff of 228 guide the academic and co-curricular life on campus as well as essential support functions. In each of its programs, Queens emphasizes active and collaborative learning, meaningful student-teacher relationships, a creative synthesis of the liberal arts and professional programs with the world of work, and the value and necessity of lifelong learning. The University is ranked #20 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges–Regional Universities South. Within that same category, Queens is ranked #13 in Best Colleges for Veterans, #30 in Best Value Schools, and #2 for alumni giving among all Regional Universities nationally. The University is also nationally recognized for its noteworthy support of international study.

The next president of Queens will oversee a period of continued growth and momentum, securing the University’s financial future and leveraging its current resources to support an increasingly diverse student population. The next president of Queens must possess an accomplished leadership record as well as the enthusiasm, energy, entrepreneurial spirit, eagerness to innovate, and persistence to plan for the University’s continued success. In addition, s/he must be strategic and demonstrate strong financial acumen, experience building relationships and resources on behalf of an organization and possess a sincere desire to lead in accordance with Queens University’s motto: “not to be served, but to serve.”

Evaluation of candidate materials will begin immediately and continue until a new president is named. The anticipated start date for the incoming president is July 1, 2019. Nominations and applications can be sent electronically and in confidence to:
