Degree and area of specialization:
DVM (or equivalent) required; Board certification in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine/Neurology or Board certification in the European College of Veterinary neurology required

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- At least 2 years of experience working in a private practice setting required
- Academic exprience required
- Advanced training in neurology and neurosurgery preferred.

License or Certificate:
Must have or be eligible to obtain a Wisconsin veterinary medical license

Position Summary:
Clinical track faculty at the University of Wisconsin are expected to participate in clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, interns and residents, participate in continuing education programs, and conduct basic science or clinical research that advances academic clinical practice. Service responsibilities are expected to the Department, School and University. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical activities of the hospital in the neurology/neurosurgery service including patient care, instruction and supervision of veterinary students, interns, and residents. Availability and willingness to consult with referring veterinarians and clients is vitally important. Approximately 25,000 small animal patients are evaluated at UW Veterinary Care annually. The current Neurology/Neurosurgery case load is approximately 1,140 cases per year.

The Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary
Medicine invites applications for a clinical track faculty, full-time, 12-month Assistant or Associate
Professor position within the neurology/Neurosurgery Section of the UW Veterinary Care clinical service within the UW Veterinary Care Hospital on the UW-Madison campus.

Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist within the School of Veterinary Medicine and the UW-Madison campus. The School of Medicine & Public Health, the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences and the Biotechnology Center are located within a short distance of the School of Veterinary Medicine on the UW-Madison campus. A close relationship also exists with the Wisconsin State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory which is located within the same footprint on-campus as the School of Veterinary Medicine. UW-Madison considers the School of Veterinary Medicine to be a major factor in its overall success as a top five university in terms of awarded federal funding. The school is also a major factor in Madison's emergence as a hub of commercial biotechnology, including regenerative medicine technologies.
