Analyst - Bursar

Job Overview:

Reporting to an Associate Director, the Bursar Analyst is responsible for the maintenance of student account records including third party contract billing, employee reimbursement, student refunds, audits and account analysis.

Qualifications:

The Analyst must exhibit strong attention to detail in their work, and be able to self-manage projects so they are completed accurately and in a timely manner.  They must possess excellent communication skills so they can effectively communicate with many different audiences.  The Analyst must be enthusiastic, people-oriented, and enjoy working with students and their families. This position requires the ability to collaborate with peers and supervisors to achieve overall EMSS Divisional goals.  The successful candidate should have exceptional organizational skills, be willing to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, goal- driven environment, and maintain an overall positive attitude.

In addition, a qualified candidate will possess the following:

1. Bachelor's degree.

2. At least 1 year of professional experience required, preferably in student accounts.

3. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.

4. Preferred working knowledge of the following Bursar/Student Account systems -- Banner/Ellucian SIS, Touch Net, Microsoft Office.

5. Ability to interpret and communicate university, state and federal policies.

6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work with diverse students and families.

7. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Essential Functions:

1. Learn and accurately execute university, state, and federal policies and procedures associated with bursar/student account functions.  

2. Maintain employer reimbursement process and ensure billing is deferred for applicable students.

3. Review pending student refunds, and process them in compliance with federal regulations.

4. Support customer service staff and students/parents in the analysis of accounts to ensure accuracy and understanding of information.

5. Audit student accounts through reporting tools.  

6. Provide customer service and respond to inquiries regarding student billing to internal and external clients via multiple modes of communication.  

7. Process student account and third party documents in an efficient, accurate and compliant manner.  

8. Maintain housing refunds and forfeits.

9. Process departmental tuition discounts.

10. Process lockbox including the uploading of payments, deposits to bank account, and accuracy of payments to student account records.

11. Maintain employee remission process in coordination with Human Resources.

12. Responsible for posting and returning private student loan funds.  

13. Understand and adhere to Drexel University's compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

14. Other duties as assigned.
