The Departments of Anthropology, Communication, Geography, Journalism and Philosophy at the University of Cincinnati are currently accepting applications to fill the position of Financial Administrator 1 (NE). This non-exempt (hourly-paid) position works with our faculty, staff and students from these five (5) departments to perform a variety of financial, programmatic, reporting and human resources transactions in support of the mission and goals of the assigned departments and organizational units.

Characteristic Duties:
  • Perform the pre- and post-award Grants administration for the Cluster
  • Assist and back-up the Business Administrator with financial and personnel matters
  • Prepare and assist with VISA processing for international students, visitors and lecturers, etc.
  • Perform duties associated with the Timekeeper role in the UC timekeeping system for assigned departments and units
  • Process check requests and purchase requisitions
  • Puchasing Card holder and allocator
  • Prepare various financial reports, as needed
  • Process travel expense reimbursements usinf the Concur Travel Expense system
  • Manage and administer various funds for assigned departments including:
    • Information Technology and Instructional Equipment funds (ITIE)
    • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math awards (STEM)
    • Faculty development awards
  • Prepare and submit contracts and A910's for review and approval
  • Assist with new faculty hiring, manage relocations and expenses for assigned departments in cluster
  • Manage department assets, track locations, dispositions and audits
  • Manage Records Retention for assigned departments
  • Reconcile various funds and accounts to ensure compliance, applicable regulations and prevent deficit fund balances in accounts
  • Work with assigned Business Administrator to provide similar support in other assigned departments, as needed
  • Purchasing office supplies as needed for assigned department
  • Special events planning and coordination
  • Order keys and process routine maintenance requests for assigned departments
  • Supervise student workers
  • Distribute mail as need
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualififcations: Bachelor degree; -OR- Associate degree with two (2) years of experience; -OR- four (4) years of experience. Experience must be in program coordination.

Preferred Qualififcations: Prior experience with the pre-award and post-award sponsored research (grants) processing
