Merchandiser II (University Bookstore) - EXTENDED


Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 58 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Merchandiser II in the University Bookstore.

Primary Job Duties: Perform a variety of retail sales store merchandising, clerical and customer service duties requiring knowledge of products and store operations and policies. Merchandising product including setting up displays, re-arranging the sales floor, incorporating new product, stocking product, and creating holiday or special event displays. Designing themed windows, determining setup and tear down of windors, selecting product to display in windows, creating props and signage for the windows. Receiving merchandise including pricing, security tagging, folding and storing product. Assisting customers by answering customer questions on sales floor, via phone and filling web orders. Performing a variety of clerical duties to include data entry, word processing, sign making, etc. Performing routine maintenance such as dusting and cleaning fixtures and window displays.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and 2 years retail experience with knowledge of merchandising, inventory control, and cash register operations. Computer skills to include Point-of-Sale operations, Microsoft Office and Data Entry.

General knowledge of retail sales operations and mechandising procedures. Skill in the use of computer keyboards, calculators and cash registers. Ability to do arithmetic computations; to communicate and interact effectively with customers, campus community, vendors, and employees; to stand and walk for extensive periods; to lift, transport, and stock merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.

This is a full-time, non-exempt State position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is $28,956.00 annually, which is approximately $13.88 per hour.
