Assistant Director, Marketing and Memberships

This position will create and implement a comprehensive marketing initiative program to support all programs, services, and activities within the Recreation and Wellness department at ODU . The Assistant Director also oversees the development, access, maintenance and recruitment of current and future memberships. This position is also responsible for hiring, training, and supervising full-time personnel and student employees in addition to maintaining current certifications and continuing education related to the marketing field. This position assists in long-range planning and implementation of departmental programming as it relates to the overall mission within the division.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field or bachelor's degree in the areas previously indicated along with experience equivalent to a master's degree. First Aid, CPR , and AED certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Possession of or ability to acquire a valid Virginia State driver's license. Some experience with sales and recruitment of memberships. Some experience in designing and maintaining websites and social media platforms. Considerable experience in marketing to and reaching targeted demographics. Experience in researching and applying best practices and trends in regards to branding and incentivizing participation. Basic experience critiquing designs and concepts. Excellent organizational, management, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other individuals and departments on campus and in the surrounding community. High level of organizational skills and proven record of delivering quality results in a timely manner. Proven ability to manage projects and deliver results. Excellent written and oral communication skills: excellent intrapersonal skills. Ability to think critically and present information is essential. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Flash, Adobe Enterprise Marketing, HTML , InDesign, Adobe design suite, CRM and willing to learn new programs. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
