NEWS WRITER, MIT Technology Review (MITTR), to craft, grow, and write for the Download, MITTR's flagship daily email newsletter; and write short, timely stories on the big technology news of the day. Will work closely with the news editor to create strategy and tactics for ensuring that the Download is a must-read newsletter on general technology news and that stories are relevant, timely, clear, and engaging; work with social media team to ensure stories reach the largest possible audience; and ensure that coverage is focused on meeting the needs of MITTR's audience. Will also post stories to MITTR's social-media feeds when the U.S.-based team is not yet at work. Based in Europe in order to be able to send the Download in the early morning U.S. time, will operate largely autonomously for a large part of the day.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: at least one year of journalism experience, preferably in science and/or technology; minimum of a bachelor's degree in journalism or science/technology-related field; track record of accurate reporting and well-written stories for a wide audience about complex subjects; ability to adhere to tight deadlines; self-motivation; organizational skills; ability to work autonomously and with colleagues across disciplines; clear, concise, and engaging writing voice; ability to identify and turn important and relevant stories into compelling, clear, and insightful articles; willingness and ability to experiment with telling stories in different formats; wide-ranging interest in new technologies and their effects on the world; accuracy; numeracy; experience promoting content on social media; and comfort working with or learning online publishing platforms and apps (e.g., MailChimp, WordPress, SocialFlow).
