PLANT OPERATOR (ENGINEER, 3RD CLASS), Facilities-Central Utilities Plant (CUP), to start, stop, regulate, monitor, and operate all plant equipment. Will review problems and provide recommendations; perform routine operational tests and adjustments; maintain accurate records and logs by performing detailed operating rounds and safety inspections and signing where required; perform equipment switching and LOTO (log out tag out) tagging; observe, record, and interpret indications from instrumentation and control systems located directly on the equipment; check daily consumption rates; monitor supply inventories; and collect water samples, perform water chemistry testing, and make adjustments as necessary.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: third class stationary engineer's license (license 1C preferred); a driver's license; a minimum of one year of operating experience in power generation and central utility plant in an academic, hospital, marine, or industrial environment; a high school diploma or its equivalent; and the ability to lift weights of up to fifty pounds. The working conditions include standing for up to 16 hour periods and working on ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety shoes and glasses, dust masks, ear protection, protective suits, and hot gloves; and wearing CUP-issued safety rated uniforms. The schedule for the position is Wednesday through Saturday, 6:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.; Sunday, 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. Schedule may change on occasion depending upon the needs of the department.
