Visiting Artist in Residence in Photography/Digital Media



Description:

Cynthia Woods Mitchell Visiting Artist Residency a t the University of Houston



The Photography/Digital Media program in the School of Art at the University of Houston, in conjunction with the UH Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts announces a semester-long visiting artist residency in Photography/Digital Media (PDM). The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Visiting Artist Residency is open to artists holding an MFA degree whose interdisciplinary practice includes lens-based media. The visiting artist will have the opportunity to actively pursue their studio practice and teach at the graduate level. In addition, the visiting artist will be provided opportunities to interface with Houston's vibrant art community, including participation in CounterCurrent, an annual contemporary art festival organized by the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts .

Responsibilities

1 graduate-level or graduate/undergrad-level course in fall 2018: topic developed in conversation with PDM faculty. Should engage students across a broad spectrum of concentrations.

1 public lecture

Participation in the CounterCurrent festival in April 2019

Facilities

24-hour access to all PDM facilities (digital printing, scanning, computer suites, lighting studio, gear from Equipment Checkout including digital and analog cameras, lighting, camera supports, etc.)

Weekday access to General Lab facilities (3D printers, laser engraver, large format inkjet printers, Riso Duplicator, vinyl cutter, Raspberry Pis and projectors).
