Sr Claims Analyst - Enterprise Risk Management

The division of Enterprise Risk Management at the University of Cincinnati is seeking to fill the position of Senor Claims Analyst. Under the general direction of the Insurance Analyst and Senior Associate Director, the essential function of this position is to evaluate, investigate, and settle commercial property, casualty, and automobile claims.

Primary Responsibilities: Manage the investigation, evaluation and settlement of hospital patient property, parking, gate arm, vehicle, general liability and university property claims, working with the claimant(s), broker, any UC-involved parties, and where applicable, the insurance company. Process and evaluate insurance claims within the university and hospitals' risk finance programs. Responsible for claim file system and database maintenance which includes initiating, updating, and closing claims.

Manage budget for University Property Reserve, University-wide Motor Vehicle Record Check Program and coordinate with supervisors on other day-to-day operational budget needs. Manage claim payments from external insurance carriers and 3rd party claim subrogation. Allocate claim payments to internal departments and external stakeholders.

Serve as Chair of UC's Motor Vehicle Safety Administrative Committee; manage and coordinate the university's annual Motor Vehicle Record Check of current university Authorized Drivers. Serve as a member on the IUC-IC Loss Control Committee. Serve a liaison to campus stakeholders and external providers to assist in property engineering inspections and appraisals and maintain property database.

Perform other Enterprise Risk Management duties as assigned by the Director of Risk Management or Chief Risk Officer, based on departmental need.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum three (3) years of professional work experience handling commercial insurance claims in a relevant field; or Associates degree with minimum five (5) years of professional work experience handling commercial insurance claims in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of commercial property and auto claims principles, practices, procedures, and administrative claims adjustment or adjudication is essential.

Candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse and inclusive university community.

Must demonstrate strong active listening skills and communicate effectively in writing.

Must demonstrate strong analytical/critical-thinking skills to conduct accident investigations, review data to reach conclusions and present findings. Well-written documentation of investigation and actions is essential.

Candidates must possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others in a team-based setting. Must also possess the ability and willingness to navigate the entire campus to assist in property engineering inspections and appraisals and loss control investigations.

Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel - creating pivot tables, charts, etc., PowerPoint, and Outlook.) Experience with SAP is desirable.
