The Makerspace Manager will lead the administrative activities of UC's newly created multi-disciplinary Makerspace. He or she will supervise the overall operation of the Makerspace, which includes, but is not limited to full-time and part-time employees, graduate and undergraduate students. The position will provide input to the strategic direction for the Makerspace, manage the facility's resources, and establish user policies and procedures. The Makerspace Manager will make presentations to students, faculty and outside organizations, be an active partner in the Greater Cincinnati Makerspace community, and perform other duties as assigned. Extended work hours and weekend work may occasionally required to meet the needs of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises full-time, part-time and student employees in the 1819 Makerspace facility. Supervision involves making disciplinary decisions as well as hiring and firing recommendations for personnel.
- Establishes policies and procedures regarding safety, training and access to the space.
- Manages the budget and resources for the 1819 Makerspace, including equipment, software and materials.
- Participates in the layout, installation and operation of equipment.
- Oversees the safety and maintenance of equipment and tooling.
- Collaborates with UC faculty and administration to support curriculum and programing for the 1819 Makerspace.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of six (6) years of related experience -OR- Associate's degree and at least eight (8) years of related experience -OR- ten (10) years of related experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Thorough knowledge of processes, machines, fabricating techniques, and materials within a prototyping or manufacturing environment.
