Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required. Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field strongly preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum 2 years' experience with Web development preferred. Ability to develop web applications using languages such as Ruby/Rails and experience with Wordpress, and a solid working knowledge of HTML and CSS strongly required. Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines required. Experience with software project management, such as Agile or Scrum methodologies in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) preferred. Experience with SQL and NoSQL database programming preferred. Ability to support legacy applications in PHP and Grails preferred. Experience working in a team development environment including the use of code development tools and version control systems is preferred. Familiarity with health care systems and data (e.g. HL7 messaging and DICOM) is preferred.

Candidate must have excellent analytical skills with the ability to manipulate large data sets, understand complex data structures and have a strong logical thought process for design and analysis with the ability to translate verbal information into written computer code according to specification and user needs.

To be appointed at the senior level, at least seven years of relevant experience is required.

Position Summary:
This position is in the Department of Radiology, UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and will primarily be tasked with design, development and support of internal web applications to support radiology departmental operations. These applications require varying levels of interaction and integration with existing information systems infrastructure including academic and clinical databases, research compute clusters, campus financial and human resources databases, clinical data warehouses and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System). This position functions under the general supervision of the Radiology IT Manager.

Additional Information:
Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively discuss highly technical concepts with non-technical project stakeholders, and be able to translate to and from stakeholders' needs and technical project specifications.
