Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 3 years working as a registered nurse (RN) in nursing home or assisted living; at least two years of formal teaching experience (e.g., nursing instructor, staff educator)

Qualified candidates will meet the minimum requirements of 3 years working as a registered nurse (RN) in nursing home or assisted living and will have at least two years of formal teaching experience (e.g., RN/LPN program nursing instructor, staff educator). Well-qualified candidates will also have experience working as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or formally teaching LPNs and be confident in understanding nursing scope of practice. An understanding of how to interpret state nurse practice acts, and who to connect with regarding questions about nurse scope of practice, is integral to successful functioning in this role. And understanding of adult learning principles and online teaching pedagogy is helpful, but can be learned on the job.

Position Summary:
Are you a current or former nurse who wants to put your passion for education to work? The Center for Aging Research and Education is seeking an experienced long term care (nursing home or assisted living) RN to revise a nurse residency curriculum so that it is appropriate for nurses practicing at the LPN level. This is a temporary project position, with flexibility for full or part time work in a period of 12-18 months. This position may be extended if additional funding or need is identified.

Additional Information:
This is an hourly position. Estimated hours between 20-40 hours per week. Hours will fluctuate.

A professional curriculum sample or writing sample will be required for candidates who are offered an interview.

Criminal background check is required prior to employment.
