Position Description : The Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) at the University of Delaware seeks a psychologist for a full-time, 12-month position. All CCSD psychologists are expected to support the Center's ongoing efforts to serve our campus with multicultural awareness and competence. For this position, we are specifically seeking candidates who have the interest and skills to work with African-American and Black students on campus as a meaningful portion of the position. We seek candidates who understand the impact that experiences of marginalization, inequality, and prejudice can have on students, and are experienced in therapy, consultation, and outreach to address, and/or diminish this impact. This position will include an expectation of time being spent engaging with campus colleagues and student organizations developing relationships and programming to engage and improve African-American and Black students' experiences on campus. This position will include an expectation of about 20% of time being spent engaging with campus colleagues and student organizations developing relationships and programming to engage and improve African-American and Black students' experiences on campus. It is expected that other staff, both from CCSD and external will partner in this work and that this is intended as an on-going team effort. Close liaisons with the University's Center for Black Culture (a vital campus center for over forty years) and the Student Life Director of Student Diversity & Inclusion are essential to this role. Opportunities for leadership and programming are available and encouraged.
In addition to the specific focus mentioned above, we are seeking candidates who are strong generalists in the range of college counseling center activities, including initial consultations, emergency coverage, individual and group therapy, clinical supervision and training, administrative tasks, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational and prevention outreach programs, providing consultation to faculty, staff, students, parents/family and other mental health/health care providers, participating in department and university meetings and committees. It is understood that some of the outreach and consultation time could take place outside of office hours.

Minimum Qualifications: Completed doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology, with an internship in a college or university counseling center. Applicants must have demonstrated experience in college counseling, excellent clinical skills, sensitivity to equity and inclusion and a commitment to campus involvement. Also, the successful candidate will have demonstrated skills and interest in the following: individual therapy, group therapy, training/supervision, outreach, and consultation. Successful completion of a background check required.

Desired Qualifications: Satisfactory completion of an internship, postdoctoral fellowship or relevant post-degree experience in a college or university counseling center. Currently licensed or license eligible as a psychologist. Experience in the multiple functions of a comprehensive counseling center as well as experience and interest in working with under-represented and underserved populations, utilizing a brief therapy model and crisis intervention. Applicants with experience organizing or engaging with campus groups and students around inclusion and mental health for African-American and Black Students are highly encouraged.

Setting: A multi-disciplinary unit, the CCSD is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services and sponsors an APA-accredited doctoral internship and a postdoctoral fellowship. The CCSD also serves as a practicum site for doctoral candidates. As an agency, the CCSD exemplifies a collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust with all colleagues, and a proven healthy working environment, recently recognized by Delaware Psychological Association as a Healthy Work Place. The staff consists of 15 psychologists, two psychiatrists, four doctoral interns, three postdoctoral fellows, and five support staff. CCSD is ideally located less than an hour from Baltimore and Philadelphia and two hours from Washington, DC and New York City. Additional information available at www.udel.edu/counseling.
