Senior Financial Assistant

SENIOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANT, MIT Professional Education (PE), to provide advanced financial support for all of the financial needs of multiple programs and ongoing projects within the department. The main duties will include approving purchases, reviewing expenditures/transactions, and processing financial transactions (including journal vouchers, RFPs, credit cards, and P-Cards); monitoring and reconciling all program accounts; investigating and reconciling cost objects, fixing discrepancies, and performing financial analyses; reviewing, processing, and tracking payments and reconciling all vendor invoices, requisitions, vendor POs and requests for payments; reviewing and processing travel reports; researching and gathering information from multiple sources for financial projects; and monitoring the transaction activities within cost objects, ensuring all expenses are properly posted to the general ledger and cost object accounts. Will work under minimal supervision of the financial coordinator.

MIT Professional Education, under the School of Engineering, offers a suite of education programs and products to serve the continuing educational needs of science and engineering professionals globally.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a minimum of five years' accounting or finance experience; strong analytical, organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidential information; meticulous attention to detail; proficiency with Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; flexibility; and ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to interact effectively with staff and faculty. MIT experience is strongly preferred. A bachelor's degree and knowledge of/experience with SAP are also preferred. Job #15665-6
