Course Materials Manager - UNI Bookstore

Percent of Time/Week:100% Service Schedule:Calendar Year

Position Description:

Leads the purchasing and managing of course materials inventory and program initiatives; manages ordering and inventory; plans and coordinates large-scale sales events; develops and maintains business relationships with UNI faculty, staff, administration, and external contacts to enhance revenues; analyzes market trends and implements industry changes; develops strategic and business plans and sets goals accordingly; develops open-to-buy plan and sales goals for the course materials department; develops annual departmental budget, staffing plan, and training initiatives; manages priorities for projects, sets deadlines, and monitors progress; identifies and helps resolve point-of-sale (POS) and software system issues; directs and reconciles bi-annual physical inventory; resolves customer issues pertaining to course materials; and hires, directs, schedules and evaluates student, Merit, and P&S staff.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required.

Required Qualifications:

At least five years of retail buying, purchasing, or related experience; supervisory experience and leadership skills; knowledge of financial and database reporting; excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills; excellent organizational and multitasking skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills, and extensive computer skills in Microsoft Office required. Frequent evening and weekend work will be necessary, including serving as the Manager on Duty. Occasional overnight travel will also be necessary.

Desirable Qualifications:

Knowledge of the new, used, rental and digital course material market and industry specific textbook and general merchandise management software preferred.
