About the College/Department
The Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design includes accredited departments of Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture, and an award-winning Community Design Center. Housed in a world-class building designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects, the three departments promote interdisciplinary collaboration and shared resources including state-of- the-art fabrication, model-making labs, wood shop, and materials lab. Collaboration among disciplines is further encouraged through a growing variety of upper level interdisciplinary studios and seminars. Their education provides students with critical frameworks for design thinking that also equip them to assume leadership roles in the profession and in their communities.
The Department of Architecture offers an accredited professional five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree and a four-year Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree, enrolling approximately 300 students. The Department of Architecture was recognized by Design Intelligence in its top 20 program rankings, as high as eighth among programs in public universities, and is dedicated to continued and heightened advancement. The Department takes seriously its obligation to teach critical design thinking and conceptual agility and to prepare its students to assume leadership roles in multidisciplinary, collaborative and integrated practices.
