For more than 50 years, Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) has proudly served the diverse needs of Anne Arundel County, Maryland by bringing educational excellence and innovation to our community and region. Students of all ages continually redefine themselves through 225 programs of study and more than 3,500 courses. Our credit programs lead to an associate’s degree or credit certificate that prepare students for transfer to a four-year institution or to move into an immediate career. AACC also offers noncredit continuing professional education courses, 140 continuing education certificates and more than 30 workforce credentials to those seeking career training or retraining, working to boost basic skills or pursuing new areas of interest. AACC also provides extensive lifelong learning opportunities for all ages.

 

We invite faculty applications now for renewable, term-contract faculty appointments for fall 2018 beginning August 16, 2018, potentially leading to tenure-track positions in the following departments:

 

Legal Studies Institute, Geography, Mathematics, Psychology, Nursing, Health/Fitness & Exercise Studies, Physical Sciences, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Architecture & Interior Design, Entrepreneurial Studies Institute, Business Management, Reading, English, Accounting and Engineering

 

Located in Anne Arundel County near historic Annapolis, home to the U.S. Naval Academy, AACC is conveniently located just minutes from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and downtown Baltimore and is only 40 minutes from Washington, D.C. Also bordering the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, the county has 437 miles of waterfront.

 

Established in 1961 in Arnold, Maryland, AACC is a fully accredited, nationally recognized, public, two-year institution and the largest single-campus community college in Maryland, serving approximately 47,000 students annually in credit and noncredit courses. With learning as its central mission, AACC’s strategic plan is dedicated to helping more students be more successful.

 

This fall, nearly 37 percent of our credit students identified themselves as being part of a racial or ethnic minority. Faculty members are expected to teach a minimum of 30 load hours per academic year, serve on department and college committees, advise students, engage in professional development activities and participate in community and business partnerships, research and grants. They should be prepared to use technology and learning outcomes assessment to enhance classroom teaching and show commitment to innovation, teaching excellence, and a teaching/learning focus. The college is particularly interested in candidates who can significantly contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community by offering diverse perspectives through scholarship, teaching and/or research interests. The college values those having experience working with diverse student populations. Highly qualified candidates will demonstrate success with increasing access and academic success for low income, minority, veteran and/or returning adult students. College teaching experience is preferred. A willingness to teach at all AACC locations, various course formats (in-class/online/hybrid) and/or a non-traditional schedule (weekends/nights) is required.
