Assistant Professor of Photography

Job Description:

The School of Art at Texas Christian University announces a tenure track position in the field of Fine Art Photography. Candidates will teach a 3/3 course load and all levels of coursework. The successful applicant will have a role in hiring lab monitors, supervising lab monitors and maintaining the photography lab. The candidate will participate in committee work, recruiting and other service to the university.

TCU is a NASAD-accredited School of Art that offers the BA and BFA in Studio Art and MFA in Studio Art as well as BA and MA in Art History. TCU maintains a close, working relationship with the art museums in the area, especially the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Kimbell Art Museum, and Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Job Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: MFA degree in Art with an emphasis in photography, digital imaging, or related field required. Teaching experience in photography or digital imaging beyond graduate school is preferred. The photography lab is predominantly digital with some wet lab capacity therefore teaching competency of Adobe Photoshop and traditional photographic methosds are required. Familiarity with Adobe Lightroom is helpful. The candidate should understand digital printing technology. Familiarity with Epson printers, studio lighting, and photographic presentation is helpful. Candidates should display an understanding of contemporary Photography discourse and practices through professional and student artwork.

RANK AND SALARY: Classified as an Assistant Professor, salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
