Multiple Faculty Positions

Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) invites applications from qualified candidates for several faculty positions. A regional comprehensive university with approximately 6,500 students (Fall 2017) enrolled in undergraduate programs and select graduate programs. Previously an upper division-only institution it transformed rapidly into a comprehensive 4-year urban university with the first cohort of freshmen and sophomores admitted in Fall 2016. Part of the statewide Texas A&M University System, A&M-SA is located on 694 acres in south San Antonio and serves a diverse student body. The university received independent accreditation by SACSCOC in December 2014. Built in the style of the historic Spanish missions, the main campus facilities leverage technology to enhance the university’s commitment to student success, while embracing the spirit of San Antonio’s rich culture. A&M-SA is a women majority (over 60% of students) Hispanic Serving Institution. The university is seeking excellent faculty candidates to fill the following positions starting in the fall of 2018.

A&M-SA is committed to diversity among faculty and inclusive excellence. This commitment is based on the belief that a diverse faculty enhances the breadth, depth and quality of our students' educational experiences by providing a variety of role models and mentors for our diverse student population, which helps us to attract, retain, and graduate such students more successfully.  In this context we solicit from applicants a statement, with a maximum of 1,000 words, included in the cover letter that addresses how their life experiences, work history, professional engagement, and relevant community engagements will contribute to the success of our diverse students, promote diversity in our campus community, and the applicants' plans for serving our diverse student population. The university is committed to inclusive excellence and invites applications from all qualified applicants.

All positions require a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the relevant discipline, a minimum of one year of college or university teaching experience as an independent instructor, excellent oral and written communication skills, and for tenure track positions, evidence of active research and published scholarly work. The successful candidates will be broadly trained in their disciplines, willing to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, familiar with the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, culturally diverse student body, will adapt to high-impact educational practices such as cooperative education, service learning, and undergraduate research, and have experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios.
