Heat and Vent (HVAC) Mechanic

HEAT AND VENT (HVAC) MECHANIC, Facilities-Repair and Maintenance (R&M), to perform a broad range of duties in building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) operations and maintenance.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of five years' experience in the operation and maintenance of building HVAC systems including building management systems; specific experience in the operation of steam heating systems, HVAC controls, gas- and oil-fired heating systems and boilers, and water treatment and refrigeration systems and hands-on experience in the repair, replacement, and adjustment of their operating components; ability to troubleshoot repairs and install pneumatic temperature control systems; experience with Windows, Word, and email; ability to communicate and interact with vendors and work with customers and other tradespeople to plan and complete tasks; ability to read ladder diagrams, blueprints, and schematics; knowledge of and ability to repair all types of pumps; ability to order parts and materials; and knowledge of environmental rooms such as Harris environmental. Must maintain a valid Massachusetts' driver's license. Massachusetts' refrigeration and oil burner technician licenses are preferred, as is a universal refrigerant recovery certificate. Sheet metal license and experience also preferred. Job #15379 The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 3:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M., but must be available to work all shifts as required. 11/16/17 MIT will conduct a background check (including checking criminal records) for finalists. For current MIT SEIU members, this background check will be done for finalists who are bidding for a promotion or for a voluntary transfer to another classification or seniority unit.
