Pay Range:    114; Starting salary is $3,318.00/month

 

Classification Benefits:    

The District offers a comprehensive package of insurance benefits to eligible employees, which includes medical and dental insurance, a vision-care plan, life insurance and dependent life coverage, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and a long-term disability income-protection plan. All premiums are fully paid by the District. Mandatory retirement incentive is with California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).

 

Summary Description:

Under general supervision from the Central Services Supervisor, performs a variety of duties related to the delivery and pick up of District equipment, supplies, materials and documents; and performs a variety of duties in support of the warehouse. May receive functional supervision, technical training and work direction from a higher-level warehouse worker.

 

The Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver classification is primarily responsible for delivering and picking up District equipment, supplies, materials, and documents. Incumbents in this classification also assist in the performance of warehouse duties. The Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver is distinguished from positions in the Warehouse Worker class in that incumbents in the latter class are responsible for performing the full range of warehouse duties.

 

Knowledge of:    

• Methods and procedures used in the delivery of materials, supplies and documents.

• Special delivery practices including the handling of confidential documents.

• General warehousing practices and procedures.

• Operational characteristics of warehouse equipment and tools.

• Traffic and safety laws, ordinances, regulations, and rules involved in driving and equipment operation.

• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.

• Principles and practices of record keeping.

 

Ability to:    

Learn and adhere to a designated delivery route.

• Properly operate and maintain a delivery truck

• Perform a variety of duties supporting the operations of the central warehouse.

• Operate a variety of warehouse equipment including forklifts, electric carts, pallet jacks and hand trucks in a safe and effective manner.

• Work independently in the absence of supervision.

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

 

Education and Experience Guidelines:    

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

 

Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

 

Experience:

Some delivery experience is desirable.

 

License or Certificate:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license and proof of insurability. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Forklift Operator’s certificate.
