The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Machinist in the Equipment Repair Department, located at the District Service Center. Hours are Monday-Friday 6:30AM-3:00PM. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge:Health and safety regulations.Methods, materials, and equipment used in maintenance and repair of equipment.Oral and written communications skills.Principles of construction and operation of a variety of manual and electrical equipment and motors.Technical aspects of field of specialty.Use of lathes, drill presses, shapers, milling machines, CNC equipment, jointers, power saws, forges, grinders, hydraulic devices, pumps, power mowers, and all machine shop equipment.Skills and Abilities:Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Diagnose, repair, and adjust equipment defects.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Estimate labor and material costs.Make simple arithmetic calculations.Work from plans, blueprints, drawings, and specifications.License:Valid California drivers license.Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years experience in the maintenance, repair, and adjustment of mechanical and electrical equipment and motors typically reflective of a master level machinist.

Pay Information:
Range 31 ($4,769.62 $7,613.40) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Maintenance and Operations Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
