Job Specifications:
Master's degree in psychology, sociology, international affairs or related field and a minimum of five years' experience. Ability to lead the College in diversity and cultural awareness. Proven record of success and achievement of significant results including proven ability to achieve institutional chance in a complex environment. Proven cross cultural competencies, including strong emotional intelligence influencing skills, and the ability to engage and build relationships with college constituencies and underrepresented communities. Strong communication, consensus-building and conflict-resolution skills needed to navigate sensitive and often highly-charged situations to resolve problems.
Job Duties:
1. Act as primary advisor to the college President on matters relating to inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity.
2. Supervise the daily operations of the Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion, including budget development and monitoring, and development and implementation of diversity initiatives.
3. Monitor progress of Diversity Tactical Plan, including periodic evaluations and revisions.
4. Coordinate duties of Campus Diversity Officers.
5. Support and advise college departments, such as Human Resources, Admissions, International Students Office, and Workforce Development regarding diversity issues, minority student & staff recruitment and retention.
6. Provide support to relevant departments regarding MWDBE goals & procurement opportunities.
7. Develop partnerships with community organizations and government agencies to create programs that provide pipelines for student and staff recruitment.
8. Establish and maintain a Community Advisory Committee.
9. Develop and implement Diversity & Cultural Competency training to internal constituents, including students, faculty & staff.
10. Responsible for the Civil Rights Compliance Officer requirement for the institution.
11. Serve as a member of President's Cabinet.
12. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
