Summary of Job Duties
The Associate General Counsel will advise the University, its Board, officers, administrators, campuses, units, faculty, and staff on legal issues affecting the campuses and units of the University, including but not limited to contract drafting and review and other transactional matters.
Minimum Qualifications: Please ensure that all relevant application materials include details addressing the minimum qualifications. Applicants not meeting the minimum qualifications will be disqualified from consideration.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited American Bar Association law school
- License to practice law in the State of Arkansas or the ability to become licensed in Arkansas within six months of employment
- At least seven years experience (subject to waiver for exceptionally relevant experience) in the practice of law with a governmental, corporate or nonprofit entity, in private practice, or in a clerkship

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in providing business and transactional advice for a private or governmental entity, particularly in the area of public-private partnerships
- Drafting/reviewing contracts, deeds, leases, bond documents, and gift agreements; experience with trusts and estates and tax matters
- Providing advice and counsel in other general matters involving higher education, including but not limited to issues involving employment, student affairs and governmental compliance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Outstanding written and oral communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work professionally under pressure
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong commitment to teamwork, customer service and collaboration
- Maturity, sound judgment, good work ethic and ability to work closely with the other members of the General Counsel's Office
