Assistant Professor of Social Work

The Department of Social Work and Gerontology seeks candidates for one tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work position effective August 2018.  Responsibilities:  Teach core undergraduate and graduate social work courses across the curriculum with the possibility of summer employment in the department’s year-round MSW program, provide academic advisement, demonstrate scholarly interests and activities and contribute services to the department, college, university and the surrounding community.  Some distance education teaching is required. 

Required Skills/Qualifications:
Requires an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program and at least 2 years post-master’s social work degree practice experience and  an earned doctorate in social work or a related discipline (ABD at the time of hire may be considered).  A terminal degree from an accredited institution is required for tenure.  Candidates invited for an interview will be required to demonstrate social work teaching effectiveness, evidence of a commitment to understanding diverse populations, give a research presentation, and participate in formal interviews.  Preferences:  Experience teaching graduate or undergraduate social work courses as well as distance education teaching experience.  Practice and/or research experience in one or more of the following areas:  behavioral health, substance abuse, school social work or intimate partner violence.
