CNC SET UP PERSON
REPORTS TO: Assistant General Manager/Supervisor Date: 5/29/12
ORGANIZATION: Manufacturing
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for setting up CNC Turning Centers and CNC Milling Centers.
SUPERVISES
May provide direction to machine operators.
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL
Under minimal supervision sets up and operates CNC equipment. Coordinates set ups for production of parts per schedule.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Sets up, adjusts, and operates all of the CNC Turning Centers and CNC Milling Centers to perform precision machining operations.
2. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
3. Sets and adjusts machines calculating dimensions and tolerances according to specifications.
4. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
5. Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining and molding process for maximum efficiency.
6. Issues and returns material.
7. Completes all inspection and production paperwork.
8. Detect malfunctions using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers, and verniers. Troubleshoots product as necessary.
9. Provides direction to machine operators as necessary.
10. Communicate to supervisor for assignments and to resolve machining or quality.
11. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to part specifications. Troubleshoots issues as necessary.
12. Perform preventive maintenance on machinery.
13. May train employees as necessary.
14. Perform other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required. Trade School strongly desired.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in set up and operation of CNC machinery.
Strong math skills, experience with measuring tools and blueprint reading skills necessary.
Other requirements: Good communication skills.terials weighing up to 50lbs. Find motor dexterity,
