Summary of Job Duties
The Oral History Editor and Transcriptionist position is located in the David and Barbara Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History located in the Pryor Center building at 1 East Center Street in Fayetteville. The successful candidate will transcribe oral history interviews from audio files and edit the transcripts using the software applications, style, and format determined by the Pryor Center. The candidate will conduct research as necessary and implement needed changes in the oral history transcripts as determined by the transcription supervisor. The Oral History Editor and Transcriptionist works under the supervision of the transcript supervisor and is required to work on-site. The various oral history interviews assigned to the employee for editing and transcription range from local subjects to broad subjects of national significance.

- Demonstrated excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills
- Demonstrated ability to type 45 WPM (Words per Minute) or higher for accurate verbatim transcription of oral history interviews from audio files
- Proficient experience working with Microsoft Word

- Thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
- English degree
- Knowledge of Arkansas politics, culture, and history
- Excellent attention to detail
- Skilled at using Macintosh computers
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to work independently with moderate direction from the transcription supervisor
- Excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills
- Ability to type 45 wpm or higher
- Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Word
