Job Description:
Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solution.
Provides initial technical services to college and provide first level technical support in assisting with hardware and software problems.
Assists with help desk coverage including answering calls, inputting incidents and helping with walk-in support.
Deploys and troubleshoots Windows OS on a daily basis as well as working with specialized software and hardware.
Collaborates with other technicians to tackle complex issues.
Follows up with customers to ensure issue has been resolved.
Performs all other tasks and duties assigned by Supervisor.
Such statement of specific duties shall fall within the Human Resources Division Classification Specification. All higher education Classification Specifications shall be available at the Board of Higher Education website: www.mass.edu

Requirements:
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in electrical or electronic system repair, the major duties of which included installing, constructing, maintaining and repairing electronic or electrical systems or equipment, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
1. A certificate from a recognized school above the high school level in electronics or electrical engineering may be substituted for the required experience.*
2. An Associate's degree in electronics or electronics technology may be substituted for the required experience.*
3. A Bachelor's degree with a major in electronics or electrical engineering may be substituted for the required experience.*

*Education toward such a degree/certificate will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years of recent experience as a helpdesk technician or equivalent
Experience in providing customer service
Ability to plan, assign and coordinate the activities of others
Understanding of the Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, and general computer hardware and software troubleshooting
Understanding of computer operations and function of hardware, software, and networking
Ability to set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies, projects, and resources
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively on a team and with other groups, and work with staff at all levels in problem resolution, training, teaching and tutoring
Knowledge of deployment of IT assets

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Grade 16, Step 1, $847.93 weekly (paid bi-weekly) ($44,092.36)
