Application Support Specialist



APPLICATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST, Student Financial Services (SFS), to ensure access and affordability for MIT students and their families. Will provide direct application, system, and technical support for SFS information systems; serve as a member of the department's technical team, assisting with all support requests, incidents, issues, tickets, and data remediation to ensure flawless and quality delivery of services to staff and customers; maintain working knowledge of key SFS systems and production jobs so that back-up assistance can be provided; work on department-wide information technology initiatives and projects; assist the senior business systems analyst on partnering with the Office of Undergraduate Education desktop support to provide overall computing and technical support for standard and nonstandard software; and maintain and update the website.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in a related field; at least five years' experience supporting hybrid Window and Macintosh environments; advanced knowledge of IT standards/policies; understanding of basic concepts in the areas of software development, database management and design, networks, and servers in order to interface effectively with technology staff; advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, database software, queries (SQL), and report writing tools such as Access; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team; sound analytical and diagnostic skills for dealing with issues that are not readily defined; and excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of web-based relational application software systems and various system operation activities including PowerFaids, Banner Account Receivables, Evisions software suite, file transfer protocols, system/database access, and batch scheduling preferred. Financial aid and/or student accounts experience a plus. Seek a quick learner with high accountability for own knowledge acquisition. Job #15242-O
