Job Description Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position (9 month) beginning Fall 2018 to strengthen our research program core area of host-microbe interactions. This position offers numerous opportunities for the successful candidate to establish productive collaborations within the department as well as across various colleges and schools at Auburn University. Candidates are expected to establish an extramurally funded and nationally recognized research program and participate in the development and teaching of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in virology, microbiology, immunology, cell biology, or a related field.

We seek candidates who are addressing fundamental questions regarding viral pathogenesis including replications, transmission, persistence, and latency. Applicants with research programs focused on virus-host interactions are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in microbiology, virology, cell biology, or a related discipline, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Qualifications include multiple years of postdoctoral experience, a strong record of publication, and potential for extramural funding. The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of the appointment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
